My Story

hi, I live in fabulous Frome in deepest Somerset, I moved her to be near family, my 2 boys who I  adore

I am an ex Art teacher and lover of all art, design and craft.  I have  always loved fabric and textile art. In 90s I undertook a City and Guilds in textile design course over 2 years, and I  am always questing more knowledge. I am now a member of the Wiltshire spinners, weavers and dyers guild, and studying for the certification in natural dyeing.

my passion for natural dyeing really expanded over lock down, lots of walks and foraging and time to experiment I  volunteer for a charity and we make sanitary wear for women in disaster zones, and as such i have access to white recycled cottons that I can purchase .

I'm really passionate about reuse, recycle and sustainability. natural dyeing is so eco friendly, I recycle, its vegan, what's not to love!

information on dyeing

all my fabrics other than indigo are mordanted and this allows the dye to stay in the fabric. with some dyes i also pre mordant with tannin found in oak galls. both these processes use water, (some heat) and time. many dyes are fugative and will fade over time. keeping all fabrics out of the sun and using pH neutral soap will help. Even indigo fades over time and washing.
